Actual competitions of the Russian Science Foundation. Application deadline is December 20, 2019.

The Russian Science Foundation holds competitions:
1) “Conducting basic research and exploratory research on behalf of the President of the Russian Federation” (interdisciplinary projects)
Within the framework of an interdisciplinary project, scientific groups should carry out research in various fields of knowledge on the basis of two or three different Russian scientific organizations, Russian educational institutions of higher education, other Russian organizations, the constituent documents of which provide for the possibility of performing scientific research located on the territory of the Russian Federation international (interstate and intergovernmental) scientific organizations (hereinafter – the organizations) that are in compliance but in two or three non-adjacent to each other regions of the Russian Federation.
The project manager must have at least ten different publications on the subject of the project in peer-reviewed Russian and foreign scientific journals indexed in the Web of Science Core Collection or Scopus databases published from January 1, 2015 years before the filing date.
The grant for the implementation of one interdisciplinary project is from 8 (Eight) to 15 (Fifteen) million rubles annually, while the amount of funding for each project can be from 4 (Four) to 6 (Six) million rubles per year (2020 – 2023) .
2) “Conducting basic research and exploratory research on behalf of (instructions) of the President of the Russian Federation” (leading scientists)
A mandatory requirement for the project is the annual participation in its implementation of at least two leading scientists who are required to make short-term (at least 1 month) visits to the organization to give lectures and participate (and / or organization) in seminars, schools of young researchers on the subject of the project, as well as for conducting research on the project.
The project manager must have at least ten different publications on the subject of the project in peer-reviewed Russian and foreign scientific journals indexed in the Web of Science Core Collection or Scopus databases published from January 1, 2015 years before the filing date.
The size of one grant is from 5 (Five) to 8 (Eight) million rubles annually (2020 – 2022).

November 14, 2019 at 15.00 in the conference hall at the Institute of the USA and Canada of the Russian Academy of Sciences (Khlebny Lane 2/3) The Council of Young Scientists of ISCRAN together with the Council of Young Scientists of the Institute of Latin America of the Russian Academy of Sciences will preach a scientific seminar.

November 14, 2019 at 15.00 in the conference hall at the Institute of the USA and Canada of the Russian Academy of Sciences (Khlebny Lane 2/3) The Council of Young Scientists of ISCRAN together with the Council of Young Scientists of the Institute of Latin America of the Russian Academy of Sciences will preach a scientific seminar. At the seminar Ph.D. A.A. Manukhin (senior researcher with ISKRAN, ILA RAS) and candidate of political sciences E.Yu. Kosevich (NS HSE) will present the report “Modern Mexico: Features of Domestic and Foreign Policy” followed by a discussion.

On November 8-9, 2019, under the auspices of the Institute of the USA and Canada of the Russian Academy of Sciences and the Russian Society for the Study of Canada, the 16th annual international scientific conference: “Russia and Canada: opportunities for cooperation” will be held.

September 29 – October 3, 2019. Scientific Secretary of ISCRAN, polit. n Evseenko A.S. took part in the Fourth international forum ‘Russia and Iberoamerica in a globalizing world: history and modernity’

September 29 – October 3, 2019. Scientific Secretary of ISCRAN, polit. n Evseenko A.S. took part in the Fourth International Forum ‘Russia and Iberoamerica in a Globalizing World: History and Modernity’, organized by St. Petersburg University.

October 3 Evseenko A.S. opened the session ‘Political crisis in Venezuela: internal imperatives and external projection’ with a report ‘Latin America and the Middle East: common ground and prospects for rapprochement between the two regions.’ At the end of the session, he answered questions on the problem of adaptation of Middle Eastern refugees in South America. During the discussion of the report, Dr. Arturo Lopez Levy spoke about the policy of the Chilean authorities in accepting refugees, as well as the general influence of the United States on the position of Latin American countries on the issue of refugees. The report made by Andrey Sergeyevich received positive reviews, including from the director of the Institute of Latin America of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Ph.D. D.V. Razumovsky.

Within the framework of the forum, a discussion was held of the prospects for strategic changes in Cuba’s political course through the prism of US-Cuban relations at the present stage. The forum was also addressed by Ambassador of the Republic of Argentina to Russia R. Lagorio. He devoted his speech to the prospects for the development of Argentine-Russian and Argentine-American relations.

On September 30, 2019, at 11 a.m., the X Arbat readings will be held on the topic: “The United States on the eve of the 2020 elections.” The conference will be held in plenary and then in sections.

On October 1, a special session of the Arbat readings is planned, within the framework of which a discussion will be held with the participants of the New Vector conference on Russian-American relations in the field of security and arms control.
