ISCRAN – LEADER OF WORLD RATINGS

ИСКРАН continues to hold leading positions in researches in the field of defense and national safety. In February 2018, the annual (eleventh) edition of the Global Think Tank Index Report (2017) was published, published by the University of Pennsylvania (USA) since 2007.

The report provides a rating of “think tanks” of the world, compiled from the results of a survey of scientists – representatives of more than 7,500 scientific organizations, as well as government officials and journalists.

According to the report of the Global Index of Think Tanks in 2017, ISKRAN occupies:

1 place among the Russian “think tanks” and 34 in the world ranking of “think tanks” dealing with issues of defense and national security;
6th place among the Russian “think tanks” and 25th in the ranking of the best “think tanks” in Central and Eastern Europe;
29th in the ranking of the best regional think tanks (with freely identifiable status).

2018.02.06 Meeting of the Dissertation Council D002.244.03

On February 6, 2018 (Tuesday) at 12.00 in the conference hall of the Institute of USA and Canada RAS (Khlebniy per., 2/3, www.iskran.ru) the meeting of the Dissertation Council D 002.244.03 on the defense of the thesis of Dmitriy Pavlovich NOVIKOV took place The Role of the Trans-Pacific Partnership in US Policy in the Asia-Pacific Region, presented to the Defense for the PhD degree in Political Science, specialty 23.00.04 – Political Problems of International Relations, Global and Regional Development.

2018.02.06 The Russian-American conference dedicated to the reduction of the nuclear threat was held at the Institute of the USA and Canada of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

On February 6, 2018, the US-Canada Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences hosted a Russian-American conference on reducing the nuclear threat. On the American side, the staff of the program “Perry Project” and “NTI-AI” took part in it. The American delegation was headed by William Perry, former US Secretary of Defense under President W. Clinton. On the Russian side, the seminar was attended by the staff of the Institute, as well as the academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, AA. Kokoshin, former First Deputy Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation under the President BN. Yeltsin and Corresponding Member of the RAS V.M. Davydov, scientific director of the Institute of Latin America of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
